No Shoes, No Shirt, No Spells
Clumsy Elly Blair can’t wait to leave New York City in the dust after catching her rat boyfriend in THEIR bed with someone else. She jumps at the chance to come home to Grandma Imelda’s cafe so Granny can retire. As Grandma is walking out of the cafe that she has just turned over to Elly she lets Elly in on one last little thing, Grandma Imelda has magical powers that she bakes into her homemade goodies and Elly, as the only family member to have any magic ability, must continue the spells to keep the town happy and unsuspecting. One catch, don’t lose the spell book or Granny’s magic spices.
Too bad Granny didn’t tell her to make sure that the spells make it to the person she crafted it for. New hottie in town, a rancher named Rory, accidentally takes a bite of the wrong burger. Now he has women chasing after him like he is the last man on earth including his high maintenance ex-girlfriend, Kim. Are Elly’s feelings for him real or part of the spell gone wrong??
Enter Tom Owenton, investigator from the National Organization for Magic sent to close down the cafe and maybe even take the magic away from Elly. Tom is pretty easy on the eyes and seems to find Elly very attractive. Things get all twisty with both men, at least she has a wonderful best friend working at the cafe and getting her nose in all the problems that creep Elly’s way. Sometimes having a gossip hound for a best friend really really helps!!
So who would you chose??? Will Elly keep the cafe???? Can Elly keep a hold of her powers??? Will she mess up again???
Rose Pressey is quickly becoming my new favorite writer (new to me at least)!! Her books are great (not to mention easy on the checkbook!) and have wonderful humor without losing the plot. All of her stories that I’ve read are wonderful romances with some paranormal thrown in. Wonderful recipe in my opinion!!
Buy it at Amazon!!! KINDLE PRICE ONLY $2.99! you can find it at Smashwords too!

F#cking Perfect – a song I wish was around when I was Growing up!!
I have been a fan of Pink for a long time. I had my Daughter listen to her music instead of Britney Spears, Christina Agulara, and many others. I always felt like Pink had something to say, and she does in almost all of her songs. This song is absolutely amazing. The message is one that any girl or woman can relate to (sorry guys too).
I am 31 years old and I feel very empowered by it. I think the more girls that take the message seriously the better. Beautiful song and wonderful message!

Made a wrong turn, once or twice.
Dug my way out, blood and fire.
Bad decisions, that’s alright.
Welcome to my silly life.
Mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood.
Miss ‘No way, it’s all good’, it didn’t slow me down.
Mistaken, always second guessing, underestimated.
Look i’m still around.
Pretty pretty please, don’t you ever ever feel.
Like you’re less than fuckin’ perfect.
Pretty pretty please, if you ever ever feel, like you’re nothing.
You’re fuckin’ perfect to me!
You’re so mean, when you talk, about yourself you were wrong.
Change the voices, in your head, make them like you instead.
So complicated, look happy, you’ll make it!
Filled with so much hatred, such a tired game.
It’s enough! I’ve done all I can think of.
Chased down all my demons, i’ve seen you do the same.
Woah ohh, pretty pretty please, don’t you ever ever feel.
Like you’re less than fuckin’ perfect.
Pretty pretty please, if you ever ever feel, like you’re nothing.
You’re fuckin’ perfect to me.

The whole world’s scared so I swallow the fear.
The only thing I should be drinking is an ice cold beer.
So cool in line, and we try try try, but we try too hard and it’s a waste of my time.
Done looking for the critics, cause they’re everywhere.
They dont like my jeans, they don’t get my hair.
Exchange ourselves, and we do it all the time.
Why do we do that? Why do I do that?
Why do I do that?
Yeah, oh, oh baby, pretty baby!
Pretty pretty please, don’t you ever ever feel.
Like you’re less than fuckin’ perfect.
Pretty pretty please, if you ever ever feel.
Like you’re nothing, you’re fuckin’ perfect to me yeahhh.
You’re perfect, you’re perfect!
Ohh pretty pretty please, don’t you ever ever feel.
Like you’re less than fuckin’ perfect.
Pretty please, if you ever ever feel, like you’re nothing.
You are perfect to me…
I know that I can be pretty mean when I look in the mirror…but I’m working on it. Thanks pink!
I do not own any rights to this song. I just love it and think the message should get out there!
My movie Compulsions
Does anyone else have these horrible compulsions to watch certain movies together or at a certain time of year? I know some people have to watch Its a Wonderful Life at Christmas time. My compulsion is a little different.
Let’s take Halloween as an example, every year the week before Halloween I have to watch my Halloween trio. No Micheal Myers. No Freddy Kruger. Not even Leatherface.
I start out with The Worst Witch (1986) it stars Fairuza Balk as a young witch in training at a boarding school for witches (this is before Harry Potter and his bunch). Tim Curry is in it along with Charlotte Rae (in two roles). It’s a kid movie but I’ve loved it since I was little.
Then I have to watch Labyrinth . Jim Henson made this movie with people and puppets about a girl named Sara (a young Jennifer Connelly) who has to rescue her little brother from Jareth, the Goblin King ( DAVID BOWIE!!!). To get to the castle where her baby brother is being held she has to travel through a labyrinth (and my personal favorite the Bog of Eternal Stench) and get her brother before time is up!
Finally to complete the Halloween series I watch Monster Squad. A group of preteen boys have to battle Dracula, mummy, a werewolf, a lagoon monster, and Frankenstein to save their town. This isn’t the best movie but it doesn’t feel like Halloween if I haven’t heard ” Wolfman’s got NARDS!”
I know these are all kids movies but I’ve been doing this since I was a kid. If you think this is strange you need to remember this is only my Halloween list!!!
No yellow brick road in my cornfield
Hello, I’m cornfieldmom. I live in Nebraska (not Omaha or Lincoln). I am very middle american. That doesn’t mean that I am uneducated or backwards, I just don’t like crowds. I am 31 years old and have 2 kids and I am married to the greatest man ever!
I watch the movies and tv shows that you do. I may listen to the same music as you (not just country). I read some of the same books you read. I just have a different way of looking at things than you might.
My best friend since high school told me to start blogging about music and movies because I love lots of different kinds of each.
I try hard to keep an open mind but to be honest somethings just piss me off, and you will hear about it.
I would never hurt someone on purpose. If I offend you I am sorry.
Now let’s get this blog going!
Be back soon!
